The track team was greeted with familiar faces at practice this afternoon. Both Charlotte Williams and Jackson Cross graduated from Tri-City Christian in 2022. They both were tri-sport athletes. Charlotte played volleyball and tried cross country in the fall of her senior year. As a four-year varsity runner, she ran track in the spring. She qualified and ran in the CIF State Cross County Championship in her first season of running cross country as a senior. She also helped lead the way last spring of 2022 to help the TCC girls track team win a league title for the first time in Tri-City Christian History! Charlotte was named the Female Athlete of the Year award at Tri-City in May of 2022 for her athletic abilities, but also for being a wonderful leader in our community. After receiving a few offers she decided to commit to running at Westmont where she just completed the indoor season and is just starting the outdoor season. She is loving the Santa Barbara area where she can enjoy hikes in the mountains and time on the beach.
Jackson is an amazing runner, long jumper, and high jumper. He decided to join the football team for the first time as a senior and was successful as a kicker for Tri-City. Jackson is also passionate about soccer and helped carry the boys soccer program last year. Jackson is also a four-year varsity track athlete who is a very talented high jumper, almost breaking the school record. What was even more impressive was his GPA, which in part, earned him the male recipient of the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award last May. Jackson chose to continue his education and athletic career at Cal State San Marcos where he is currently an engineering major.
Both Charlotte and Jackson are in town because Westmont College and Cal State San Marcos will be at an outdoor track meet this Saturday at Point Loma Nazarene University. Best of luck to both Charlotte Williams and Jackson Cross this outdoor season. We can't wait to see all they are to accomplish.
