Track and Field is right around the corner and it will be exciting to watch our Cross Country runners on the track this coming spring season. Each of our runners made strides (literally and figuratively) this past fall and there is no doubt they are going to keep the pace into the spring.
Two of our runners ran at the CIF - San Diego Section Championships on Saturday, November 12, at Morley Field. Adrianna Zuber (10) and Aiden Woolf (10). Both represented TCC well.
Adrianna medaled by getting 20th place in the Division V Championship race. Adrianna also earned 4th place in our league and 14th in our conference at the Coastal Conference Championships on November 4th. She was awarded the Breitbard Award for being in the top 10 at conference finals and named Pacific League Girls Cross Country All-League.
Another standout on the team was Zhenghan (also known as Marvin) Qiu. Marvin came from China this year after no sports opportunities since pre-Covid. If you have been watching the news, there has been civil unrest in China due to the “Zero Covid” policy that has kept the same Covid restrictions since the initial outbreak. Marvin was excited to be a part of the Cross Country team. There are CIF rules for foreign students to participate in sports and even if he was ineligible to participate in sports, he was ready to just practice and participate in the team. Thankfully he was granted eligibility from CIF and represented Tri-City Christian in 5 races. His determination at each practice and commitment to the team clearly paid off. He started with no experience finishing his first race after just a few weeks of training at 24:04, to then earning his personal record as 22:10 at Conference Finals.
Congratulations to all of our Fall 2022 runners!
GO EAGLES!
